We’re running 34 miles… for RRT!

RRT’s Operation 322 volunteers work together to create relief for those at the heart of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, delivering emergency food and personal care supplied to those displaced. Here at RLT Marine, we are all huge supporters of this incredibly charity, and are wanting to give back to RRT, a small portion of what they’ve given millions around the world in recent years.

Back in 2016, 5 office men set out to run the Sandstone Trail, as a relay team, in under 7 hours. They achieved this, and smashed their target by 56 minutes, however, it was no small feat, as the Trail is 34 miles long, up well-wooded hills, along rugged towpaths, and through miles of cow-trodden Cheshire fields. Now, the team has grown and has an ever-increasing enthusiasm towards obliterating previous milestones, so we are doing it again, with a target of 322 minutes (5 hours and 22 minutes), in support of RRT’s Operation 322.

Typically, the Trial is a summer, 3-day family walk, striding out along Cheshire’s Sandstone ridges that rise dramatically from the flat plains of the North West. It is rural Cheshire at its best – quiet and sleepy at times, yet steeped in history and rich in wildlife. The well-wooded Peckforton Hills stand proud, and Beeston Castle commands panoramas of eight counties, whilst boasting an elevation change of up to 1,268 metres. It truly isn’t for the faint-hearted, but doing it for such a special charity makes it that little bit easier.

RRT has dedicated themselves to supporting Ukraine for over a year and so far, have delivered… 228,201 Food Boxes, 22,800 Snack Packs, 8,638 Care Kits and 2.5 Million Meals. In 2023, they have increased their output to maximise the impact and have also teamed up with a Ukrainian based charity, to get the Food Boxed produced and distributed, and will be continuing to support the refugees with truckloads of aid for the foreseeable future, being one of the last charities able to sustainably continue supplying the necessary essentials.

Our run will be taking place in early-May, and training is already underway. Keep a look out on our LinkedIn page for weekly updates as we aim to increase our pace, and reduce our times.

Any support is much appreciated – don’t forget to donate!

Thanks in advance, from all at RLT Group.
